LARGER ENCORE COMING TO OKLAHOMA
The Encore has been a huge hit, for Buick, since its introduction to the U.S. market, in 2013. The award-winning, subcompact crossover has experienced a near tripling in annual sales, since its arrival.
The success of the Buick Encore hasn’t skipped over Tulsa, Oklahoma. Here, at Ferguson Buick GMC, the Encore has been our highest selling Buick model. In just the first quarter of 2019, alone, the Encore has consisted of nearly 70% of our entire new Buick sales.
The Encore’s is Buick smallest model in its family of SUVs and crossovers. It’s the perfect vehicle for our Tulsa and Oklahoma City drivers, who need the benefits of a roomy SUV, but also the maneuverability of sedan.
As much as our Oklahoma drivers have loved the Buick Encore, we’ve felt there’s been a need for a model that’s slightly larger; a model that fits between the Encore and Buick’s mid-sized SUV, the Envision. Luckily, it appears as though Buick has made plans to do just that!
In January, Duncan Aldred, U.S. Vice President of Buick-GMC sales at General Motors, spoke of a model that would, potentially, sit between the Encore and the Envision. Earlier this month, Buick released the Encore GX, in China, at the Shanghai Auto Show. At the time of its reveal, Buick did not mention any plans to bring the Encore GX to the United States.
It now appears that the larger Encore GX will, indeed, be sold in the U.S. market. A recent article, by Michael Wayland, of Automotive News, claims, “They [U.S. dealers] will get a chance to sell the Encore GX, a larger model of the popular Encore subcompact crossover, sources familiar with the plans confirmed to Automotive News.” Wayland
It’s yet to be determined where the new Encore GX will be made; however, Ferguson Buick GMC is expecting the larger Encore GX to be on our lot, and available for our Oklahoma drivers, in late 2019.
